Features and Remarks
„Landscapes are never still — they shift, breathe, dissolve and re-emerge.“
Jeppe Lauge
Lauge's works encourage reflection on the spiritual dimensions of our relationship with nature.Through the deconstruction and reassembly of natural elements, he highlights the various levels of human influence on the environment. This process reflects how our perception is shaped by cultural and personal filters, and encourages us to consider how we can become more aware of our impact on the world around us. By deconstructing and reassembling natural elements, he highlights the various levels of human influence on the environment. This process reflects how our perception is shaped by cultural and personal filters, encouraging viewers to engage with the complexity of nature and our placewithin it.
His compositions are well thought out and precisely realised.
The technical finesse with which Jeppe Lauge applies the colour to the raw canvas in an orchestrated process visualises the artist's meticulous approach to painting.
Das hier angebotene Gemälde und weitere Arbeiten sind aktuell in der Ausstellung „CONTROL“, bei bei e.artis contemporary zu sehen.
The CONTROL exhibition brings together two Nordic artists, Emma Nilsson (Sweden) and Jeppe Lauge (Denmark), in an impressive exploration of the boundaries between the intentional and the uncontrollable, between the impulse to create and the inevitability of transformation.
In art history, control has often stood for mastery – a conscious act of reproducing, staging or capturing reality. In the hands of Nilsson and Lauge, however, control becomes a multifaceted concept: simultaneously a tool, a boundary and a fragile illusion.

Jeppe Lauge was born in 1980 in East Jutland. Lauge studied at the Academy of Arts in Århus and Ærø, before moving to Amsterdam in 2008, where he studied Fine Arts from 2008 to 2011 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Jeppe Lauge's paintings mostly looks for the big format. In his paintings, he brings together images of nature and geometrical forms and patterns in a congenial way. In the interplay of forms, this results in a space, or a landscape that can exist only in the human mind. At the same time, the pictures also refer to the conditions of human culture, especially our time. They reflect the way we shape our environment and are shaped by it ourselves. The images do not only deal with the romantic or aesthetic cultivation of the sublimity of nature, but with a mediated nature, in which realism and geometrical abstractions together form a completely new composition. Leach has already had a number of solo exhibitions and since 2007 numerous participations in group exhibitions in Denmark, France and the Netherlands. Most recently, his work was shown in 2017 in Luxembourg at the presentation of the finalists of the Luxembourg Art Prize 2017. The artist lives and works in Amsterdam. |
