Vivian Greven in Dialogue mit Wintersberger
In Düsseldorf, the main works by Lambert Maria Wintersberger encounters a painter who, half a century later, is exploring similar questions. The concept of the exhibition is based on a presentation at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart that placed works by Vivian Greven in dialogue with Wintersberger’s works from the 1960s and 1970s. A 44-year age gap separates the two—and yet they share a timeless sensitivity to the idealization and vulnerability of the body.
Vivian Greven (DE, 1985) is known for numerous
international exhibitions. Her work is currently on
view at Kunsthalle Nürnberg and in the current
collection presentation at Kunstpalast Düsseldorf. In
2027, she will present her first institutional solo
exhibition in China at the Yi Museum, Hangzhou.
Recent solo exhibitions include the Paula Modersohn
Becker Museum, Bremen (2024), and Neue Galerie
Gladbeck. Her works are held in museum collections
including the Long Museum, Shanghai,
Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Hamburger Kunsthalle,
and the Providence College Galleries, USA.
The exhibition is being organized in collaboration with Kadel Willborn, the estate of Lambert Maria Wintersberger, and Villa Haiss, and is part of the DC Open Gallery Weekend 2026. With the kind support of the cities of Chemnitz and Düsseldorf
