The Vichy shape (standardisation by DIN: 1942) - a bottle shape that refers to mineral water bottles from Vichy. Vichy is known for its mineral water springs and was the capital of the unoccupied part of France during the German occupation.
RAL - The colours of the Reichsausschuss für Lieferbedingungen
Red brown (RAL 8012) was the colour of the freight wagons used by the Reichsbahn and, until the 1990s, also by Deutsche Bahn. People were deported to concentration camps in wagons painted in this colour.Yellow-brown (RAL 8020) was a German camouflage colour for Africa at the beginning of the 1940s. This colour replaced black-grey, which proved to be unfavourable for desert regions. Yellow-brown was removed from the RAL catalogue after 1945.
This series of works is based on extensive research into colours that can hardly be seen today. Becker thus processes parts of his own family history. Further details can be found here:

| Carsten Becker hat von 1994 bis 1999 an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln studiert. Der Konzeptkünstler ist zweifacher Preisträger des Deutschen Studienpreises (Körber-Stiftung). Seine Werke wurden international im Architekturzentrum Wien, im Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin, bei Haunt / frontviews, im Palazzo delle Stelline in Mailand, in Athen und im Paradiso Amsterdam gezeigt. Carsten Becker lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. |
