Control
Jeppe Lauge & Emma Nilsson
November 29, 2025 – January 30, 2026
The exhibition brings together two Scandinavian artists, Emma Nilsson (Sweden) and Jeppe Lauge (Denmark), in an impressive exploration of the boundaries between the intentional and the uncontrollable, between the urge to create and the necessity of transformation. In art history, “control” often means mastery—the deliberate act of representing, organizing, or capturing reality. But for Nilsson and Lauge, “control” takes on a multi-layered meaning: it is at once a tool, a boundary, and a fragile illusion.
Lauges‘ paintings, on the other hand, explore the interface between nature and human intervention. His method begins with photographs of landscapes—moments of cultivated or wild environments—which are digitally deconstructed and reassembled. The resulting oil paintings combine precise geometric patterns with organic forms—a visual symbol of the human need to order and abstract nature, while its resistance to any limitation remains visible. For Lauge, control means not only power, but also limitation: it is a place where perception falters and dissolves, raising the question of whether complete mastery—even of what is perceived—is possible at all.
