Features and Remarks
This visual density is complemented by the olfactory installation ‘Spinners’. An industrial essence, odours of steam, machine oil and cotton unfold a sensory field of memory that evokes the physical experience of industrial work. A soundscape of mechanical rhythms from the first mechanical spinning machines complements the installation.
A culinary intervention at the opening of the exhibition, which reinterprets historical workers' dishes, makes it possible to experience history with the palate.

Emeka Ogboh (*1977, Nigeria) operates at the intersection of conceptual art, social sculpture, and cultural archaeology. His works employ multisensory media—including sound, taste, and installations—to renegotiate cultural narratives. Rather than fixed categories of identity, Ogboh is interested in the fluid interplay of memory, migration, and belonging. Ogboh‘s works have been featured in documenta 14 (2017), the Münster Skulptur Project (2017), and the Biennale di Venezia (2015). His inclusion in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, and Tate Modern in London underscores his significance in contemporary discourse on transcultural identities. |
